Air Charter Scotland’s Citation CJ4 Transitions to European AOC as 9H-BEM

11 August 2026

Air Charter Scotland’s Cessna Citation CJ4, formerly registered as LN-BEM, is now transitioning to the Maltese register as 9H-BEM, operating under the company’s European Air Operator Certificate (AOC).The change strengthens Air Charter Scotland’s charter capability, allowing the aircraft to operate more efficiently across the EU by removing the requirement for ad-hoc charter permits on intra-EU missions. It also reduces the operational constraints associated with cross-border flying, enabling efficient aircraft deployment and greater flexibility for brokers and clients.

The project also demonstrates the expertise of Air Charter Scotland’s in-house Aircraft Management and Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) teams, who manage every stage of the re-registration process to minimise downtime and ensure full regulatory compliance.

Jack Page, Commercial Manager at Air Charter Scotland, said:

“The Citation CJ4 is an extremely capable and versatile aircraft, particularly well-suited to short and medium-haul flying across Europe. Moving the aircraft onto our European AOC allows us to make better use of that capability, with fewer operational restrictions on intra-EU charter flights. Ultimately, this is about making our fleet more accessible and flexible for our customers, while continuing to deliver the high levels of service, reliability, and operational oversight they expect from Air Charter Scotland.”

The newly registered 9H-BEM is now available for charter under Air Charter Scotland’s European AOC. To learn more about charter availability or Air Charter Scotland’s aircraft management services, contact the charter sales team.

Air Charter Scotland Secures Year-Round Wick PSO Route

7 August 2026

Air Charter Scotland is delighted to welcome the Scottish Government’s continued investment in Public Service Obligation (PSO) air services from Wick John O’Groats Airport, securing a full year of essential regional connectivity with Aberdeen, while introducing a new service between Wick and Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city – and Air Charter Scotland’s home.

Tickets go on sale next week for an enhanced network that includes weekly return services between Wick and Aberdeen and three weekly return services between Wick and Glasgow, covering the period 15 August 2026 to 14 August 2027.

Following a competitive tender process led by The Highland Council, Air Charter Scotland was successful in retaining the contract first awarded in January this year.  It will continue to work with AIS Airlines as operating partner with their 18-seat BAe Jetstream 32 aircraft.

The enhanced contract reflects the collaborative efforts of Transport Scotland, The Highland Council, Air Charter Scotland, AIS Airlines, HIAL and regional stakeholders, all working together to deliver sustainable, dependable air connectivity.

The new Glasgow service addresses a long-standing demand from the local community and provides new opportunities for business, healthcare, tourism and economic growth, according to The Highland Council.

Derek Thomson, COO, Air Charter Scotland commented:

“Since taking over the service in January, our focus has been simple.  Deliver a reliable operation, provide exceptional customer service and build trust within the communities.  The continued confidence shown by The Highland Council and Scottish Government is something we’re very proud of and it reflects the dedication of our entire team and our strong partnership with AIS Airlines.”

The introduction of Wick–Glasgow is particularly exciting. It will provide even greater opportunities for residents and businesses across the North Highlands; improved access to Scotland’s Central Belt, while maintaining the essential Aberdeen service that supports onward domestic and international travel.”

1,800 passengers carried on Wick-Aberdeen since January

Since taking over the Wick–Aberdeen service in January 2026, initially with a King Air 200, Air Charter Scotland has flown approximately 1,800 passengers. The Wick PSO has delivered a stable and reliable service that has rebuilt passenger confidence, following a challenging period for regional aviation.

Its service connects patients with healthcare appointments, businesses with customers and supply chains; students with educational opportunities and families with loved ones, while supporting tourism, inward investment and the wider regional economy.

“Now Air Charter Scotland has become established serving scheduled service operations its future focus will be on determining future aircraft types.  We are already starting to talk with regional aircraft lessors and OEMs with vigour. In the meantime, we continue to listen to customer feedback, delivering the high standards of reliability, professionalism and customer care that passengers have come to expect,” concluded Derek Thomson.

Air Charter Scotland Secures Vital
Wick-Aberdeen PSO Extension

20 March 2026

Air Charter Scotland (ACS) is pleased to announce the extension of the Wick-Aberdeen PSO, a lifeline route for northern Scotland.

The successful continuation of the Wick-Aberdeen-Wick Public Service Obligation (PSO) route through to 14 August 2026, which follows a formal agreement by Scottish Ministers to provide additional funding, ensures this critical transport link remains operational for the communities and businesses of Caithness.

Sustaining Regional Connectivity with the Wick-Aberdeen PSO

The funding confirmation from Transport Scotland reaffirms the Scottish Government’s commitment to rural connectivity. Minister for Agriculture and Connectivity Jim Fairlie highlighted the economic and social importance of the service, noting that the additional support provides certainty for the region following the collapse of the previous operator late last year.

“I am pleased to confirm additional funding for the Wick to Aberdeen air service until 14 August 2026,” said Minister Fairlie. “The Scottish Government fully recognises the economic and social importance of rural connectivity. This funding is a further confirmation of our commitment to the Caithness area.”

Operational Excellence and Increased Capacity

Since taking over the route in January 2026 under an emergency procurement exercise, Air Charter Scotland has worked tirelessly to restore passenger confidence.

From 1st March, ACS upgraded the service from the initial Beechcraft King Air 200 to an 18-seat Jetstream 32 aircraft. This transition has increased daily capacity by 10 seats, catering to growing demand from the oil and gas sector, business travellers, and leisure passengers alike.

Derek Thomson, COO of Air Charter Scotland, commented:

“We are delighted with today’s news. Reliability on the route has been excellent, and passengers have responded very positively to the service. With the arrival of Spring and increased demand, the introduction of the Jetstream 32 was timed perfectly to support the community. We are also looking forward to adjusting our timetable at the end of March to better serve the needs of our passengers based on the feedback we have received.”

A Strategic Link for the North

The flight, which takes just under an hour, offers a vital alternative to the near five-hour car journey between Wick and Aberdeen. Highland Council Leader, Raymond Bremner, praised the “fantastic job” ACS has done in regaining passenger trust.

“Extending the PSO to August gives us a real opportunity to promote and grow the route even further,” said Cllr Bremner. While the extension is a significant win, the Council continues to advocate for long-term lifeline connectivity beyond August 2026, having already presented a Full Business Case to Transport Scotland.
